Hello darlings! Just when you thought I’d thrown in the “blogging” towel I pop up out of nowhere! There’s been a lot going on in my new little life in London which I’m not so sure if I want to share at this stage but I know you guys love a good life update blog post so I may just do one. I have so many great things lined up to blog about and all my new makeup to share with you so expect to hear from me very soon.
More importantly I wanted to tell you about a new teeth whitening product I’ve been using for the last 3 weeks. It’s called Carbon Coco and it’s a black powdery substance made from 100% certified organic coconut shell charcoal. I’ve been looking into various teeth whitening methods for a while now but dentists literally charge an arm and a leg and the bicarb/lemon juice paste seems very dangerous so this was definitely next on my list.
What is it? It’s a medical grade activated charcoal powder removes toxins, stains, and plaque from your teeth through a process called adsorption, in which activated charcoal binds with these particles and flushes them out of your teeth and mouth. The super finely milled polish won’t damage your enamel or gums and also contains bentonite clay, a natural ingredient that helps remineralise teeth plus a hint of lemon myrtle, which has gentle and non-acidic antibacterial properties
How do you use it? First you dip the wet toothbrush into the charcoal powder, then brush your teeth for 2-3 minutes, spit the black stuff and the brush as you normally would with the activated charcoal toothpaste. Something which is good – the toothpaste formula doesn’t contain fluoride and even though it’s black, it turns into a greyish foam which has a fresh minty taste. The toothpaste is designed to protect your teeth from further staining throughout the day, so you won’t mess up your results if you love coffee and coloured drinks!
Did it whiten my teeth? I’ve seen loads of positive reviews on the Carbon Coco products so far so obviously I had high hopes. I will admit it’s very messy and just gets all over the bathroom sink. I’d recommend that you do the powder brush only at night as it leaves black residue underneath the edges of your gums and this would need a thorough brush in the morning. Although it made my teeth feel a lot smoother, I didn’t see a dramatic difference with my teeth becoming whiter. I took a before and after shot just to be sure and didn’t use any colour enhancing filters. The only difference could have been the different natural light between the before and after photo but I didn’t wake up one day and think damn look at those pearly whites… I mean, this could be due to various reasons such as my teeth not being super yellow to start with as I only have one cup of coffee a day and don’t drink tea. Also perhaps because there was the odd day here and there that I didn’t use the charcoal polish. Either way I’m going to use it till it’s finished and then might post another updated picture to see if there’s been any more of a difference.
