CATRICE have once again come out with a bunch of new makeup products that they released for the autumn and winter months and even though winter is coming to an end here in South Africa, there’s still a lot of products that I’ll be wearing all year round!
They’re also known for pulling many of their makeup trends straight from the catwalk as they know how to reflect the international fashion looks of the season in unique beauty products of the highest quality. This season think bright and eccentric eyes, subtle contours, radiant complexions and geometric nails…
I managed to get a couple of the new products which I used to create a simple cut crease makeup look which you can view below. All these products are currently in stores so if you’re wondering whether to go out and buy them then keep on reading.
♥ CATRICE Sand Nudes Eyeshadow Palette – R89.95
I’ve always been a huge fan of the CATRICE eyeshadow palettes. In fact this is my 3rd palette from them already. I love how compact and pigmented the eyeshadows are and that you only get 6 shades which means that there isn’t much to waste.
However, I was a bit let down by this eyeshadow palette. Once swatched, I felt that there wasn’t much of a color-tone difference between the first 4 and the last 2, it’s almost as if I only got 2 colors to work with. I was mostly disappointed by the 3rd orange-toned eyeshadow as I’d really hoped that the color payoff would be pigmented but it sadly wasn’t.
The CATRICE Chocolate Nudes eyeshadow palette still remains my favorite.
♥ CATRICE Blush Artist Shading Palette – R79.95
I always enjoy blush palettes such as these as you get to change up your blush shade throughout the seasons. So instead of buying different color blushes you could just buy this one which makes it so much more convenient to travel with. There is a choice of an apricot/bronze shade, a fresh coral/berry mix shade and a classic rosewood shade.
I gravitated more towards to the apricot and coral shades as the rosewood shade seemed a bit too pink on my skin tone.
♥ CATRICE Glam & Doll False Lashes Mascara – R69.95
*DUPE ALERT* If you’re no stranger to the Benefit Roller Lash, you’d recognize that these 2 mascaras look nearly identical. Do they give you the same results? YES! Best part – the Glam & Doll Mascara costs less than half of the Roller Lash mascara so it’s a definite winner in my beauty books!
♥ CATRICE Velvet Brow Powder Artist – R69.95
When I first got this brow powder pen thingy-majiggy it must have taken me about a good 10 minutes to figure out how it works. Basically, it has a flexible sponge applicator on the tip which you use to apply the product to your brow. Then, to get more product onto your sponge applicator you need to screw the cap back on as the brow powder is inside the cap – cool right?
Pros – No need to sharpen your Velvet Brow Powder Artist. Cons – It bit more extra time is needed to fill in your brows, it doesn’t do well at sharp precise eyebrows so you’ll definitely need to clean up with concealer afterwards. Available in 3 colors.
♥ CATRICE Prime And Fine Beautifying Primer – R79.95
This primer is a bit different to most primers I’ve used before. Instead it has light-reflecting pearl-pigments which gives your complexion a natural glow. It has a shimmering pink tone which helps to turn dull looking skin into alive looking skin and it can be used underneath your makeup or simply on its own.
Did it make my makeup last all day? No it didn’t. Towards late afternoon I noticed that my pesky oily skin would shine through and my makeup would move. It is after all a beautifying primer so I don’t think it’s quite built for long wear. If you have dry to normal skin then this primer will work great for you, however if you’re like me and have an oily skin type then a more heavy duty primer is needed.
