I’m slowly but surely discovering a whole new world of makeup brands that I’ve never heard of before and one of my latest discoveries was a luxury Italian beauty brand called Diego Dalla Palma. They can be found in 54 different countries and stock locally in the beauty section at Marks and Spencer (it’s the Woolworths equivalent here in the UK).
The few things I got from them were foundation sticks, a mascara and a matt lipstick. I thought I’d share a few thoughts on the products I got and you might be seeing a whole lot more of DDP on my feed!
The foundation sticks are said to be a medium/buildable coverage however I’d even say it came through as full coverage. I was a bit worried about blending them into the skin being a foundation stick I thought they might leave streaks across your face. I blended it in with a damp beauty blender and at first it seemed a bit of effort to get all the lines blended together, once it was done it was absolutely dreamy!
My favourite thing about this foundation stick is that its formulated with SPF20!! You wouldn’t say it has a SPF20 formula as usually when SPF is combined with foundations they tend to become really greasy – low and behold not with this one! In fact once blended, the finished look looked really matt, even so that if your skin isn’t prone to oiliness, you could skip setting the foundation with a setting powder. Definitely a winner for me and I’ll be repurchasing!
The next item I got was the Ciglione Lash Booster Mascara. For those of you that have read a few of my reviews on mascara’s you’d know that I’m not a fan of bristle mascara wands as they tend to be messy and clumpy. I always turn to rubber mascara wands as they apply product to the lash a lot more effectively and separate the lashes. This mascara wouldn’t usually be one that I’d reach for but this is a specially formulated mascara. Let me tell you how…
The mascara has 3 active ingredients (vitaminized matrikine / flavonoid extracted from lemon / olive leaf extract). Now to skip all the science mumbo-jumbo these ingredients are volume-enhancing, lengthening, strengthening and have anti-aging properties that stimulate the cellular metabolism and protects the lash follicles. And by applying it daily this product also stimulates the natural physiological growth of the lashes. Great right?
The last item I got was the Mattissimo in the colour 170 (Cherry) and I wasn’t a huge fan of this colour to be honest. I was hoping for it to be a deep red but it seemed to be more on the pink side… Nevertheless it glides on pretty smoothly giving a great matt effect.
