Well the name LA Girl has been across the lips of just about every beauty blogger I know! I’m still very new to the brand and I recently bought a couple of products when Dischem had their amazing buy 2 get 1 free beauty fair sale.
Since these matte pigment glosses had just been unpacked from their boxes I decided to grab 2 of these glosses as well. I see so many beauty bloggers from Instagram use similar matte glosses and knew I just had to try it out myself.
They are available in 16 different shades and the 2 colors I picked are very dramatic not-everyday-wear kind of shades. I already have tons of nude lipsticks so I wanted something a bit more daring. A bright neon pink which would probably do well on summer days and a deep purple which is ideal for night-time and goes great with a smokey-eye.
These glosses are definitely not as easy to apply as a regular lip-gloss! Fine precision and a steady hand is what you’ll need to get your matte lips to look on-fleek. I recommend using a lip liner to prep your lips for application of the matte pigment gloss as it’s very easy to go a little overboard and once you’ve gone passed your lip line it’s going to be very difficult to fix as these pigment glosses stain your lips.
I generally suffer from really dry lips and the LA Girl matte pigment gloss doesn’t really help either as it further dries your lips. Once applied you’ll need to wait a few minutes for it to dry as it becomes slightly tacky and makes your lips stick together.
One thing I loved was that once the gloss is actually dry, it doesn’t transfer to clothes or fade when you eat or drink and it lasts for a good few hours! This also however means that its equally as difficult to remove so an oil-based makeup remover is recommended, otherwise Garnier Micellar water also works well.
Overall I think it’s a good product for the price, I’ll probably purchase one or two of the more neutral looking shades for everyday wear.
LA Girl is sold exclusively in Dischem Stores and the matte pigment glosses retail for just R59.95.
