For a while now I’ve been searching for a quality gel top coat that really lived up to its name and didn’t just resemble “another top coat”. I wanted something that would 1) Look like a salon quality gel manicure and 2) Lasted long. I was really excited when I received some Catrice goodies this week and saw that included was their Ultra Stay & Gel Shine base coat and top coat.
With their 3 step system that doesn’t require a LED lamp and no visits to the salon either (aint nobody got time for that) you can now get that perfect gel mani in the comfort of your own home at a fraction of the cost. Plus when these 2 forces are joined together with the Catrice Ultimate Laquer the durability of your mani can last up to 8 days!
Step 1 Base Coat: I was surprised to see how quick this base coat dried – I think I timed it at 30 seconds? And it also helps that you don’t need to be extremely neat when applying this coat. The base coat is great for strengthening your nails, prevents staining assists in making your mani last longer.
Step 2 Ultimate Nail Laquer in “A Gallon Of Melon”: I adore this shade so much! It’s the perfect Spring shade – so bright and fresh! You only need 1 coat if you are doing a white undercoat but if you aren’t, then I’d say 2 very thin coats.
Step 3 Top Coat: Now THIS gel top coat I’m very impressed with, let me tell you what happened… We all know what happens to your manicures when you do them at 11pm right before you go to bed… Yes, those horrible smudges and dents! All your patience and hard work gone to waste! Not this time, I decided to paint the top coat over the dents anyway (luckily they were minor) and to my amazement the polish was evened out again without a flaw in sight. Brilliant! You wouldn’t even be able to tell 🙂
I recommend the Catrice Ultra Stay & Gel Shine if you really want to get the most out of your mani’s. The prices are very reasonable – Step 1 Base Coat R61.95, Step 2 Ultimate Nail Laquer R49.95 and Step 3 Top Coat R61.95. That together is less than what you would pay for a trip to the salon. CATRICE can be purchased at Dischem, Spree and Takealot.
Happy painting beauties.
