If you live in Cape Town you must have heard and perhaps seen The Galileo Open Air Cinema take place across the city. There are few things I dislike about my city, I mean – she gives you incredible sunsets, fun mountains to climb, some of the world’s best beaches and then she had to go throw in an outdoor cinema too! Come on now…
The Galileo Open Air Cinema celebrates their fourth year of bringing us some of the best outdoor entertainment which caters for the entire family! You can expect to see blockbusters such as Mama Mia, Footloose, The Notebook, Dirty Dancing, Breakfast At Tiffany’s and so much more grace the big screen. Let’s not forget the optional backrests and blankets (recommended) that are available for “rent” to make your experience that much more comfy!
My best friend and I went to watch………. The Lion King! It brought back so many childhood memories! The Galileo staff were also super friendly and helpful and there were enough food stalls available to cater for every taste bud. We had the nachos from the Mexican stand which were so tasty and we also stopped at the popcorn stand, obviously! There’s also a fully stocked bar so you don’t need to worry about smuggling in a bottle of wine either 🙂
I must just mention that we were at the Hillcrest Quarry venue so I’m not 100% sure whether they have the exact same facilities at every venue, you can contact The Galileo Open Air Cinema on their social media platforms and just check with them before you decide on a venue. Also remember to bring cash if you’re planning on spending at the bar or you can use Snapscan.
Venue rotation is as follows:
♥ Tuesdays – Hillcrest Quarry
♥ Wedsnesdays – Kirstenbosch Gardens
♥ Thursdays – V&A Waterfront
♥ Fridays – Rotating venues in Cape Town
♥ Saturdays – Cape Winelands
Ticket prices range between R79 – R149. Buy your tickets HERE.
